Doing a vendor comparison?
What you need to know before choosing an accessibility vendor
Checklist before you sign
What is actually included in the price?
Make sure you get: an accessibility widget, scanning and issue remediation, an accessibility statement, and ongoing maintenance. Anything missing means you will pay extra for it later.
What are the contract terms?
Check: lock-in period, cancellation terms, and renewal costs. Some vendors lock you in for 3 years with a cancellation penalty. We offer no commitment and no penalties.
What happens after year one?
Does the price jump at renewal? Does the widget stop working if you don't renew? Know up front so there are no surprises.
What does support look like?
Is there a phone line? How fast do they handle issues? Are you talking to a real person, or just an automated system?
How deep does the remediation go?
A widget alone isn't enough. Ask: do they run manual audits? Do they fix issues at the code level? Is there a compliance report?
Does the vendor offer legal protection?
Be careful: no accessibility vendor can guarantee "immunity" from lawsuits. Anyone who promises that probably isn't telling the whole story. What is true — professional accessibility significantly reduces your risk.
Is there a dashboard or reports?
A good accessibility vendor gives you access to scan reports, compliance status, and remediation tracking. Transparency = credibility.
What do existing customers say?
Look up Google reviews, talk to existing customers, and check how many sites the company has made accessible. Experience and reputation make a real difference.
